What is osteochondrosis
Dystrophic disorders in the intervertebral discs, which lead to disorders in blood supply and spinal functions, are called osteochondrosis. Experts call this disease "rejuvenating": if it was previously diagnosed in people over the age of 45, today, more and more often, patients in their thirties turn to vertebrologists (doctors who specialize in treating vertebrae).
The main symptom of osteochondrosis is the protrusion of the fibrous disc in the spinal canal. This leads to destruction of the intervertebral ring, a narrowing of the gap between the vertebrae, pinchings of nerve endings, accompanied by severe pain. The main causes of the disease:
- sedentary lifestyle;
- prolonged stress on the back;
- trauma;
- violation of metabolic processes in the body;
- genetic diseases;
- excess weight
Osteochondrosis can affect the spine of the cervix, chest, lumbar region. You should consult a doctor urgently if the following symptoms of the disease appear:
- acute pain in the spine;
- numbness of the limbs;
- frequent muscle spasms and cramps;
- headache;
- dizziness with a sharp change in body position;
- uncomfortable tingling sensation - "goose bumps" on the back.
